About Living the Healing.

About Danielle M. Barnard. LMSW

I’m a licensed social worker (LMSW) with a background in trauma therapy, community development, and systems-level advocacy. Over the past several years, I’ve worked with survivors of interpersonal and systemic harm—including domestic violence, sexual trauma, and human trafficking—in both clinical and community settings. My approach is grounded in culturally affirming, trauma-informed care, and shaped by experience across nonprofit, public, and private spaces. I also facilitate workshops, consult on trauma-responsive practice, and create resources that reflect the nuances of healing in real life—not just in theory.

Living the Healing began as a phrase a therapist once offered me—and it stayed with me. Not just as encouragement, but as a reminder: healing is not something I had to earn or prove. It was something I could choose to live into, even while still in process.

I created this space as a quiet offering.

A place for questions we carry, the truths we’re just starting to name, and the long work of reconnecting with ourselves and each other. This is not a business I’m trying to scale. It’s a living extension of the work I do every day as a trauma therapist, community-rooted social worker, and Black woman committed to collective healing and relational repair.

My work—and this space—centers:

  • Trauma recovery and embodiment

  • Navigating harm, power, and systems

  • Honoring the complexity of identity, intimacy, grief, and rest

  • Reclaiming the sacredness of our inner voice and body’s wisdom

Whether I’m facilitating a workshop, creating a digital guide, or simply reflecting through writing, my hope is that Living the Healing feels like a warm landing. A space that doesn’t ask you to hustle, perform, or heal quickly—but instead offers language, reflection, and resonance.
